Hi.
I'm Rob, from BLKOUT —
and this is an invitation,
peer-to-peer.
Two minutes.
No pitch.
One reason.
And one ask.
Audre Lorde said it best —
we who were not meant to survive.
Five hundred years of racial capitalism
have tried to split us up.
To deny we exist or matter.
To divide and conquer —
Africans v Caribbeans,
Black men v Black women,
baby boomer v Gen Z —
anything to keep us busy
fighting each other,
and looking past the actual enemy.
In that context,
our relationship to each other
is itself revolutionary.
Black men loving Black men.
Black people loving Black people.
Black people retaining
the capacity for love at all.
But love can't only be courtly —
heart emojis, lol.
It has to be rooted in action.
It has to face today
and prepare for tomorrow.
It has to continue
to confound the racist.
The evidence will be our survival,
our Blackness,
our queerness,
our joy —
on land and online.
BLKOUT exists for that work.
We've built shared infrastructure
for the people
our own organisations don't reach —
and for the questions
our sector hasn't been built to ask.
So we've put the kit up.

without community
there is no liberation.
